TroyLabs Texts

Last updated October 6, 2026

TroyLabs is a student-run startup accelerator at the University of Southern California (a student organization, not operated by the University). TroyLabs leadership texts its members and alumni about TroyLabs events and important club news. This page explains those texts.

What you get

Invitations to TroyLabs events (demo days, speaker nights, socials) and important club announcements, from the TroyLabs number, each starting with "TroyLabs:". A few messages a month at most; message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Texts link only to usctroylabs.com.

How to sign up

Texts are only for TroyLabs members and alumni, and they're optional. On your TL Alumni Network sign-up form or profile (usctroylabs.com/alumni-portal), add your mobile number and tick "Text me TroyLabs event invitations (optional)". The box starts unticked, and you can join the network without it. Entering a phone number alone doesn't sign you up. Your first text comes once TroyLabs leadership approves your profile.

The phone field on the TL Alumni Network profile, with the unticked optional box 'Text me TroyLabs event invitations' and its disclosure

After ticking the box and saving: 'Saved. You'll get TroyLabs event texts; reply STOP to any of them to stop.'

How to stop

Reply STOP to any text, or untick the box on your profile. You'll get one message confirming it, and no more texts. Reply START to sign up again. Reply HELP for help, or email troylabs@usc.edu.
